James C. Klick is a senior partner of Herman, Herman, Katz & Cotlar and practices in the areas of personal injury, maritime personal injury, class actions, products liability, explosions and fires, catastrophic injuries, toxic torts, and medical negligence.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C.,
Mr. Klick attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was honored with a post-graduate Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to study in Manchester, England.
Mr. Klick earned his Juris Doctor degree at Tulane University Law School, where he
graduated Cum Laude. Before beginning his private practice, Mr. Klick served a two-year clerkship with a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Mr. Klick’s significant litigation includes Page v. Gilbert, 598 So. 2d 1110 (La. App. 4 Cir. 1992) affirming multi-million dollar verdict in a crashworthiness case against Nissan Motor Company; Billiot v. BP Oil Company,
93-1118 (La. 9/29/94) 645 So. 2d 604, for which he authored several amicus briefs before the Louisiana Supreme Court on behalf of trial lawyers throughout the State of Louisiana, successfully allowing workers to sue their employers for punitive damages; Dumas v. Angus Chemical Company, No. 92-1707,
Fourth JDC, Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana, in which he served as class attorney in a massive explosion of a nitromethane plant in Sterlington, Louisiana; Mote v. Oryx Energy Co., et al,
94-CV-594 (E.D. TX. 1995) a $12 million recovery in an offshore injury claim; Herndon v. Southwestern Electric Power Co., No. 382,166, First JDC, Parish of Caddo, State Louisiana, a $3.4 million recovery for utility electrocution.
Mr. Klick's successful litigation efforts have been reported in the
National Law Journal, Law Reporter, Professional Negligence Law Reporter, Texas Lawyer, and The Trial Brief.
He practices at the HermanGerel office in New Orleans, Louisiana.
